Sea City Museum Trip

On Thursday 6th July, Year 3 and 4 took a trip to the Sea City Museum in Southampton to carry on our learning about the Titanic. We had a great day and learnt lots of new things. We were able to go on a guided tour of the museum, where we got to steer the Titanic through Southampton Water and we got to become coal stokers and fire the furnaces. We also took part in a great workshop where some of us got to dress up as different people on board the Titanic – passengers and crew alike. We took part in 4 tasks in our workshop: deciding who would get a place in a lifeboat, looking at artefacts from the Titanic, writing messages in Morse Code and learning about why the Titanic sank after the compartments filled with water. Take a look at the slideshow below to see some clips of our fantastic day of learning!

Fishbourne Roman Palace Trip

Don't forget that Year 3 and 4 have an amazing trip to a Roman Palace coming up! We can't wait to see what else we can learn about Roman life in Britain.

Remember to bring your permission slips and medical forms back into school as soon as you can!

Turtles and Piranhas Trip to SEARCH in Gosport

On Tuesday 13th September, Years 3 and 4 took an amazing trip to the SEARCH museum in Gosport. We spent the day learning about everything DINOSAUR!!

In the morning, Turtles' Class spent some time exploring fossils and geology from the different dinosaur eras. We learned about different shape fossils and stones that have been found and we even found out what fossilised dinosaur poo looks like (YUCK)!!!

In the afternoon, we became paleontologists (a special name for dinosaur scientists)! We put on our fantastic white lab coats and learned about so many brilliant things.

We learned about Amy the Ammonite and how she became fossilised. We made comparisons between animals that we have nowadays and animals that would've been around when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. We spent some time making dinosaur food chains and used topic words like 'predator', 'carnivore' and 'herbivore'. We even used tape measures and metre sticks to find out how tall or how long different dinosaurs were. One dinosaur even went out of the door of the museum because it was SO big!

Have a look at the slideshow below to see some of the awesome learning that our class did on our first trip of the school year!
