Inclusion Assistant/Play Leader

We have a vacancy for a highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic Inclusion Support Assistant to join our hard working and extremely effective team working across the Academy promoting inclusion by supporting children with challenging behaviour both in and out of the class. This post is particularly suitable for someone who is patient, flexible, has the ability to diffuse situations and is calm and able to make decisions.


The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting children with challenging behaviour across the Primary age range.
  • Have good skills in English and Maths (GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent).
  • Hold an NVQ level 2 or level 3 for teaching assistants or have an equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Be team teach trained or willing to undertake this training.
  • Be patient, flexible and understand that behaviour is a form of communication and is not personal.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and have good communication skills so that they can liaise with colleagues, other agencies and the child’s parents.
  • Be a play leader, able to lead a range of games including children who find socialising difficult.
  • Support reluctant children in the morning to come into school.


Likely Hours of Work:

7:45 – 8:45 a.m. Breakfast Club Assistant

8:45 – 9:15 a.m. Meet and Greet

9:15 – 11:30 a.m. Supporting individual children in class or out of class.

11:30 – 12 noon Own Lunch

12 – 1 p.m. Play Leader Role at Lunchtimes (paid at lunchtime rate)

1 – 3:15 p.m. Supporting children in class or out of class; running interventions such as Lego therapy, anger management, nurture.
