Home Learning

 

Home learning will be handed out to your child every Friday. This will consist of choices from the current Home Learning Grid, spellings, Number bonds, Learn Its and a Times Table target.

Occasionally, as an alternative, the class may have a project-based task spread over a number of weeks. 

The tasks need to be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday. Thursday is acceptable but not as routine. It is unlikely that any work handed in on the Friday will be marked.

If your child does not attempt their homework, they will be required to do so in their own time on the Friday of that week (i.e. morning break and/or lunchtime break).

Your child is expected to spend about 20 minutes on each of their chosen tasks.

They will be tested on their number bonds and times tables throughout the week and spellings every Friday. 

In addition to the above, your child is expected to read at least five times a week. This should be recorded in their reading diary  by either you or your child. It could simply be the number of pages they have read or,preferably, a comment on their reading or what they think about the book. Please support your child’s learning by spending some time listening to them read and asking them questions about the text. This is invaluable!

Please encourage your child to get in to a regular routine with the above expectations. 

If you have any concerns or issues with your child’s home learning please arrange to see Mr Vickery. He will normally be available before 8.35am or immediately at the end of the school day. Alternatively, you can make arrangements to meet with him via the main office.
