This week, we have started our Learning Quest about 'Journeys'. we have been learning about the story of 'Rosie's Walk', by Pat Hutchinson. Today, we went outside and explored different ways of traveling. How many different ways have you traveled this week?
We Are Team Players
Some children decided to explore the tyres in our garden this week. We have been using them as part of our obstacle course, but this week, some of the children decided to explore with rolling and stacking them. We had races in the garden, seeing who could roll their tyre the furthest, and stacked them and used our strength to climb in and out of the tyres. We learnt a lot about sharing, taking turns, and helping each other.
WORLD BOOK DAY
Today, we celebrated World Book Day by sharing some of our most loved stories, and dressing up as our favourite book characters. Mrs P shared her favourite story, 'The Gingerbread Man' with us.After sharing the story, we made (and ate!) our own gingerbread men.
Today, we have been learning about Shrove Tuesday. We made and ate pancakes and, in our Class Worship, shared the story of 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes'. We talked about how resilient Mr Wolf was when his friends wouldn't help him, and he had to try and try again to read his recipe book, write his shopping list, and count his money.
ALL AT SEA
Our theme this half term is 'All at Sea'. Today, we used our 'Funky Fingers' to add peg legs onto crabs. We opened the pegs using a pincer grip, between finger and thumb.
IMPORTANT DIARY DATE!
Parents, please remember to join us for our Class Worship at 2.45 on Tuesday 5th March. Our theme is 'Shrove Tuesday'. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our learning with you.
CAN WE FIX IT? YES WE CAN!
We have been learning about fixing and building. We have learnt about the story of the Three Little Pigs, and had great fun exploring the trail in school to find resources to build a house for the pigs. We found lots of sticks, and build different sized houses for the pigs.
OUR VISIT TO STAUNTON COUNTRY PARK AND FARM
On Friday 15th June, we visited Staunton Country Park and Farm with Chimps' Class. We visited the farm animals, and took part in activities learning about 'minibeasts'. We went on a bug hunt, made collages of minibeasts using natural materials found in the woods, made a human millipede, learnt about camouflage by playing the game 'Woolly Worms', and all had the opportunity to touch a Giant Millipede and an African Land Snail.
We have taken part in several Autumn Walks around the Academy grounds in the past week. We have listened for all the sounds we can hear, looked at the environment around us, and collected Autumn items such as leaves and acorns. We have used our collection of Autumn items to count, sort, make a number line, make shakers, and to investigate in class.
We helped to make three harvest loaves to share with the rest of the Academy. We had to use a rolling pin and our hands to roll the dough. Can you find the mouse hiding on the harvest loaf?
