St Columba C.of E.

Primary Academy

Changing Lives, Building Futures

All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.

The four broad ‘areas of need’ are defined as:

  1. Communication and Interaction,
  2. Cognition and Learning, Social,
  3. Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties,
  4. Sensory and Physical Needs.

Our school Interim SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator) is Mrs Smith. She has dedicated time each week to support children and families. If you would like to see Mrs Smith, an appointment can be made with her, through our Academy office.

From the 1st September 2014, under Section 65 (3) (a) of the Special Educational Needs (Information) Regulations, all schools are required to publish an SEN Information Report on their school websites.

This report must contain SEN information as is set out in the Schedule, as well as utilising the Local Authority (LA) Local Offer. Consequently, the report should meet the needs of SEN pupils as determined by school policy and the provision that the school is able to determine.

Read further information on the support the Academy offers to SEND children by clicking on the document below.

Details about admission to St Columba C. of E. Primary Academy for children with SEND can be found within the relevant years' Admissions Policies on the Admissions Page of this website.

As the Academy also runs an Assessment and Resourced Provision (ARP) for the Local Authority, information on that Provision and how to apply for a place can be found under ARP in the About Us section.

Detailed information and guidance of how to apply for a place at a Hampshire School both if your child has a statement of special educational needs/Education Health Care Plan, or if he/she has special needs but does not have a statement or Educational Health care Plan, can be found on the following link:
